No pain, no gain!

No pain, no gain! No New York Comic Con would be complete without some thrilling Mortal Kombat news. At the Invincible panel, NetherRealm Studios dropped a bombshell: Omni-Man will be the first DLC fighter for Mortal Kombat 1! The bloodshed will commence in November, so prepare yourselves!

A gameplay trailer showcasing the mighty Omni-Man was also unveiled, and it left jaws on the floor. It featured a mind-blowing Fatal Blow and two Fatalities that were straight out of the comic book and TV show. Talk about bringing the pain! Oh, and guess what? J.K. Simmons, the voice behind Omni-Man, will be reprising his role in the game! His menacing threats can be heard chillingly targeting Liu Kang and Scorpion. And as if that weren’t enough, the trailer also gave us a glimpse of Tremor, the first fabulous Kameo fighter to join the fray. Shake it up, baby!

But wait, there’s more! NetherRealm spilled the beans on the entire first Kombat Pass schedule. Brace yourselves, because between November and Summer 2024, six new fighters will join the roster. Alongside the powerful Omni-Man, we can expect the likes of Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, Homelander, and Takeda. It’s an all-star lineup, folks!

Now, hold on to your seats, because there’s a twist. While the release dates for Ferra, Khameleon, Mavado, and Johnny Cage as DLC Kameo fighters have yet to be confirmed, NetherRealm did unveil a small, but tantalizing detail: the Johnny Cage Kameo fighter will be none other than Janet Cage! That’s right, a gender-swapped version of our beloved Johnny will enter the ring, throwing a whole new element into the mix. Talk about a surprise twist!

So, what are you waiting for? Mortal Kombat 1 is out now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC, so grab your controllers and get ready to unleash hell. And if you want to dive headfirst into all the carnage, the Kombat Pass is available as a separate purchase for $40, or you can go all in with the $110 Premium edition. The choice is yours, warrior!
